PNG→JPG — Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about formats, quality, privacy and how PNG to JPG Converter Online works.
General
Frequently asked questions
Is this PNG to JPG converter free?
Yes — completely free, with no watermark and no signup required.
Will I lose transparency converting PNG to JPG?
Yes, because JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas become white. Use WebP if you must keep transparency while shrinking the file.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes. Batch uploads are supported and the results are delivered as a single ZIP.
PNG to JPG
Frequently asked questions
Does converting PNG to JPG lose quality?
At our default quality of 90, the loss is invisible for photographs. JPG discards only detail the eye struggles to see. For graphics and text, though, PNG stays sharper — convert those only if size really matters.
What happens to the transparent background?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. If you need to keep transparency, stay with PNG or convert to WebP instead.
Can I convert many PNGs at once?
Yes. Upload a whole batch and every file is converted, then bundled into one ZIP for a single download.
Is there a watermark or signup?
Neither. The tool is completely free, with no account and no watermark on your images.
JPG to PNG
Frequently asked questions
Does JPG to PNG remove existing compression artifacts?
No. Any blocky noise already baked into the JPG stays in the PNG, because the artifacts are now part of the pixels themselves. PNG simply stops any further loss from future edits.
Will the PNG have a transparent background automatically?
No. A JPG has no transparency to carry over, so the PNG starts fully opaque. You then erase or mask the background yourself in an editor, which PNG can store once you do.
Why is my PNG so much larger than the JPG was?
PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel exactly rather than discarding detail the way JPG does. Larger size is the trade-off for an editable, non-degrading file.
Can I convert several JPGs to PNG at once?
Yes. Upload a batch and each JPG is re-encoded as its own PNG, then delivered together so you only download once.
PNG Compressor
Frequently asked questions
Is PNG compression here lossy or lossless?
Lossless. The image looks pixel-for-pixel identical afterward; only redundant data, unused palette entries, and surplus metadata are removed. Transparency is fully preserved.
Why did my photo-as-PNG barely shrink?
Photographs are full of subtle gradients with little repetition, so lossless compression finds almost nothing to remove. Convert such images to JPG or WebP instead for a real size cut.
Will compressing strip my transparency?
No. The alpha channel is kept intact, which is the whole point of staying in PNG rather than converting to a format like JPG that drops transparency.
Can I compress a batch of PNGs together?
Yes. Upload several at once and each is optimised independently, then bundled so a single download gives you all the smaller files.
PNG to WebP
Frequently asked questions
Does PNG to WebP keep the transparent background?
Yes. Unlike JPG, WebP supports a full alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent areas of your PNG carry over intact while the file gets much smaller.
How much smaller is WebP than the original PNG?
Commonly half the size or less for transparent graphics, and even more for photographic content, because WebP uses modern prediction and transform techniques PNG lacks.
Will WebP work in email and older apps?
All current browsers display WebP, but some legacy email clients and older desktop software still expect JPG or PNG. Convert to JPG for those specific cases.
Is WebP lossy like JPG?
WebP can be either lossy or lossless. This converter balances strong compression with sharp edges, so transparent graphics stay crisp while photographic detail compresses efficiently.
Image Resizer
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes the image's pixel dimensions; compression changes how tightly those pixels are stored. Shrinking an oversized image is usually the most effective way to cut file size.
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Scaling down keeps an image sharp because it discards excess pixels you were not seeing. Blur only appears if you scale a small image up, which adds no real detail.
Does the resizer keep my aspect ratio?
Yes. The longest edge is capped at the target and the shorter edge scales to match, so the picture stays perfectly proportioned and never looks stretched.
Can I resize both PNG and JPG files?
Yes. The resizer accepts PNG, JPG, and WebP inputs, scaling each down to a web-friendly maximum dimension while preserving its original aspect ratio.
